Surgical Services

Our veterinary team performs many surgeries in house here at the clinic. No matter how minor or routine the procedure, we understand how stressful it can be to have your pet “go under the knife.” You can have peace of mind knowing we take every effort to ensure your pet receives the best and most appropriate care possible. Sometimes this means we recommend referral to appropriate board-certified surgeons if orthopedic or other advanced surgeries are needed. Curious about our surgery services? What kinds of surgeries do you offer?

Here at Little Creek Veterinary Clinic, our board certified veterinarians perform several types of surgical procedures including:

• Spays and neuters
• Urinary bladder surgeries
• Gastrointestinal surgeries (resection, foreign body removal, etc.)
• Lump removals
• Biopsies
• Wound repairs

Is anesthesia safe for dogs and cats?

Yes. All animals are examined prior to surgery and monitored while they are sedated/anesthetized to help ensure their comfort and safety. We take every care and precaution possible, from closely monitoring your pet’s vital signs all throughout their surgery, to providing them with a warm area and blanket to stay cozy after they wake up (pets often feel cold after surgery as anesthesia reduces their ability to control their temperature).

Can I leave my pet alone after surgery?

Yes. Rest assured the veterinary team at Little Creek will give you all the instructions you need to provide the proper at-home care for your pet after their procedure. For pets who need closer monitoring, they may recommend they stay overnight at a 24-hour emergency clinic or other medical-grade boarding facility. Otherwise, it is okay to leave your pet alone for short periods of time. Just make sure to keep a lookout for signs of distress like trembling, wound-licking and loss of appetite.
